Join us on this 13-day motorcycle tour. Personally lead by Lynette Rowe [co-founder of PMT], you will ride through the rugged prairie beauty of Nebraska and South Dakota and sweep through the Black Hills of South Dakota, before climbing the world-famous passes leading to Yellowstone NP in Wyoming, giving you a close-up view of the amazing scenery.

Details


Riding ranges from relaxed sweepers to twisty mountain passes with fantastic views. Conquer these passes and visit some of the outstanding National & State Parks located in this Western riding paradise.


Beginning and ending in Aurora, Colorado, the roads in Colorado and surrounding states are in good condition with light traffic out of the cities. City traffic can be heavy at times. Other than road repairs you will not be required to ride on any unsealed roads.

This tour is suitable for Intermediate or Advanced riders. There are some high mile days. Note: USA drivers drive on the right-hand side of the road.

Use your own motorcycle or use one of our rental touring motorcycles, which are licensed, and safety inspected and verified by the US government. 

Itinerary

Day #1. 25 mi / 42 km (Approx. 0:30 hrs. riding)

After arriving at Denver International Airport, you’ll be met at the airport and shuttled to your hotel to check in and then to pick up your bike. Today is set aside to allow you to settle in and rest up before the adventure begins tomorrow. The day will include a safety meeting to review road rules and safety requirements, and a “Get to know you” dinner.

Day #2. Aurora to Rapid City 458 mi / 774 km (Approx. 6:30 hrs. riding)

A high mile day.

Leaving your hotel and the city behind you, set out on a long day, riding through wide open prairies, putting you in the middle of the cattle country, famous from the great western movies of last century, stopping along the way to visit major landmarks, from the days when these prairies were crossed by settlers searching for a new life. 

Day #3. Rapid City—Black Hills Loop 184 mi / 311 km (Approx. 2:30 hrs. riding)

Today will take you through the famous Black Hills, stopping for a number of interactive events, experiencing wild animals up close as you cruise along-side bison and other wildlife. Zig zagging though the hills bring you to the early western town of Deadwood before riding back to your hotel for the evening.

Day #4. Free Day

Today is a free day for you to catch up on all those important things like sorting out photos, writing down all the key points of your tour so far, sending postcards to friends and family and even getting that pesky laundry taken care of. Maybe enjoy exploring the local area.

Day #5. Rapid City to Billings 413 mi / 698 km (Approx. 5:30 hrs. riding)

A high mile day

Heading out early, the road takes you to see the intriguing Devils Tower, before cruising a well-maintained road that takes you alongside one of the most famous battle fields in the old west. Stop to visit and soak up the spirit of the location. You will feel the history as you walk in the footsteps of those that fought here.

Day #6. Billings to Gardiner 185 mi / 306 km (Approx. 2:30 hrs. riding)

This is a GoPro day with some fantastic riding ahead of you. You will get lost in the moment as you climb through amazing twisting tight corners. Amazing views, open skies, and great roads will make this a day to remember. Riding through open country, alongside gentle rivers you will experience free roaming animals. Keep your cameras handy.

Day #7. Free Day

Sleep in today and enjoy a rest day for you to catch up on all those important things like sorting out photos, writing down all the key points of your tour so far, sending postcards to friends and family and even getting that bothersome laundry taken care of. Maybe enjoy exploring the local area.

Day #8. Gardiner to Jackson 165 mi / 271 km (Approx. 2:30 hrs. riding)

Cruise through thermal areas, stopping to view hot mud pools, geysers & fantastic waterfalls, intermixed with rugged mountains, immense valleys, green forests, and the possibility of seeing free roaming bison, bears, wolves and other wild animals.

Day #9. Jackson to Vernal 285 mi / 480 Km (Approx. 4:20 hrs. riding)

A fun day takes you through the open prairies of Wyoming and back into the Rocky Mountains areas of Utah. Easy riding will have those miles flying by as you approach the mountains and your destination for the night.

Day #10. Vernal to Glenwood Springs 230 mi / 385 Km (Approx. 3:30 hrs. riding)

Another GoPro day takes you through some rugged country with fantastic views and amazing corners. Heading South towards Colorado's banana belt, it can get hot. Stops along the way to enjoy the scenery make this a fun day. You will spend the night in a peaceful mountain town with fantastic hot springs. A relaxing evening for all.

Day #11. Glenwood Springs to Estes Park 200 mi / 335 Km (Approx. 3:30 hrs. riding)

Another GoPro day takes you over one of the highest passes in Nth. America. Stops along the way in small mountain towns for breaks and to enjoy the scenery make this a fun day. Watch out for animals along the road, while enjoying the climb up over the >14,000-foot mountain pass. You will spend the night in a peaceful mountain town.

Day #12. Estes Park to Aurora 113 mi / 191 Km (Approx. 2:30 hrs.)

Today is another GoPro day, which takes you along the base of the Rocky Mountains with stops along the way in small mountain towns for breaks and to enjoy the scenery make this a fun day. Continuing Sth along some exciting sweepers brings you back to Aurora to your hotel, before dropping off your bike. A shuttle ride returns you to your hotel.

Day #13. Shuttle to the Airport

After a relaxing breakfast, you will catch your shuttle to the airport. This shuttle ride is filled with talk about the adventure you’ve just had and the fun experienced.
